- Mariella Nocetti, mezzo-soprano [MÈRE
MARIE Dialogues des Carmélites]
is a native of Montevideo, Uruguay. She came to the United States
supported by a full-tuition scholarship from the Organization
of American States where she attended Mannes College of Music.
A well-known performer in her native country, Ms. Nocetti has
presented interpretations of the role of Cherubino in Le
Nozze di Figaro, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte,
Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana, Maddalena in
Rigoletto, Clarina in La Cambiale di Matrimonio,
and the Cantaora in the zarzuela LaVerbena de la Paloma
of Tomás Bretón. She has participated in
master classes at Mannes conducted by Gérard Souzay, who
then invited her to attend his master classes in France. Ms.
Nocetti has also participated in a series of master classes conducted
by Régine Crespin. She has also played the role of Ramiro
in La Finta Giardiniera, a production of Mannes
College of Music. Her performance earned very good reviews in
both the NY Times & NY Post. Other roles include Rosina in
the Hudson Opera Theatre production of The Barber of Seville
as well as The Composer in the Genesis Opera production
of Ariadne auf Naxos. Her more recent roles have
been Cherubino with the Taconic Opera and Hudson Opera Theatre,
Hansel with Delaware Valley Opera, Hudson Opera Theatre and Lyric
Opera of New York. She has played the role of Prince Orlofsky
in Die Fledermaus in New York and Florida with
The Manhattan Lyric Opera Company and in Philadelphia with Concert
Opera of Philadelphia. Inrecent seasons, with Hudson Opera Theatre,
she has been seen as Sesto in both Giulio Cesare
and La Clemenza di Tito, Nicklausse in Les
Contes dHoffmann and, last season, in the title
role of Bizets Carmen.
