Kathryn Alicia Tate
Mezzo-Soprano
 
Kathryn Alicia Tate, mezzo–soprano, sings the role of Mèrcedes in this year’s production of Carmen with the Hudson Opera Theater. Another role previously performed with this company was Annius in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito. Last fall, she sang with New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera as Mamma Lucia in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana. She returned to the DVO/HOT stage this past summer as the Third Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Previous roles with Delaware Valley Opera include: Flora in Verdi’s La Traviata and Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor. To her credit she has performed in numerous productions with the Knoxville Opera Company. Other performance highlights include featuring a one-woman cabaret show for the opening of the Rodin Exhibition for the Knoxville Museum of Art, appearing as the Mother with the Bronx Opera’s student production of Menotti’s The Consul, performing with Indianapolis’ renowned American Cabaret Theatre, and appearing as guest soloist with Orange County Community Orchestra to sing Bellini’s famous duet ‘Miro, o Norma’ from the opera Norma, receiving acclaim for her “rich intonations and sonorous treble”. She is also a vocal awards recipient from the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. She is engaged to perform a homecoming recital this September in Knoxville, Tennessee with an additional concert scheduled for October in Monroe, New York.
