OVERTURE
Artistic Director, Ron De Fesi, conducts the Overture...
ACT I, Scene 1

Townsfolk (from left to right) Jack Person, Zach Brandman, Lin Wood and D'André Williams gather with Fiorello (Nick Karnavezos) to perform a serenade under Rosina's Balcony...

The musicians get a little carried away and the Count (at far right) needs to calm them down before beginning his serenade...

Disguised as the student, Lindoro, Count Almaviva (David Root) sings to his beloved Rosina...

Fiorello (Nick Karnavezos) explains to the Count (David Root) that the lady has not appeared and that it would be a good idea to end the serenade since dawn is breaking...

Thanking him most profusely, and most noisily, for his generosity, the musicians take their leave of the Count. Just then, who should happen by?

Well, none other than...
The Barber (Chris Thompson) tells of his many duties as the general factotum of Seville...

Dr. Bartolo (Alan Gordon Smulen), Rosina's guardian, instructs the maid, Berta (Janean Sherwin) not to admit anyone into the house!

He vows to wed Rosina that very day -- before anyone can stop him. In that way he will have both her affection and her fortune!

The Count (David Root) left confides to Figaro (Chris Thompson) that all hope of winning Rosina is now lost!

But Figraro gives him hope -- and his mandolin. "A canzonetta will get her," he explains, and he charges the Count to sing Rosina another song, the words to which Figaro himself composes...

Rosina responds and the Count is ecstatic. Promising Figaro lots of money if he will help him, Almaviva enlists the aid of the barber in gaining entrance to Dr. Bartolo’s house...
The barber agrees...
Figaro suggests that the Count go in disguise as a drunken soldier. But Almaviva is not sure...
The barber explains that no one questions the motives of a drunkard...
Both agree that Figaro is a genius! Then Figaro explains where they should meet to begin the ruse...
