Nathan Anthony Resika, bass


Bass Nathan Anthony Resika has been praised for his “sonorous”and"resonant" voice by critics and colleagues alike, while carving out a niche for himself as both a classic basso cantante and an interpreter of modern works.

News: Nathan will return for his third engagement with Hudson Opera theater to reprise the role of Colline in La Boheme this June, 2017.He was heard as Baron Zeta in the Merry Widow with the same Company this past February,as well as Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin Last November. In January 2017 Nathan performed the role of Alidoro in La Centerola with Winter Opera Saint Louis. Nathan also recently performed the role of Ferrando in Il Trovatore with Cleveland Opera Circle(June, 2016).Both of the above performances garnered Nathan excellent reviews. Nathan performed his first Banquo in Verdi's Macbeth in summer of 2016 with La Forza Dell'Opera ( though his 10 year old son Fabian stole the show as Fleance). Nathan was recently named as one of eight finalists, from over 100 singers, in the 2016 New Jersey Verismo Opera Competition.


Nathan has performed roles with Caramoor, OperaNorth, Opera Orchestra of New York, the Center for Contemporary Opera, Cleveland Opera Circle, Connecticut Lyric Opera, Opera New Jersey, the New Britain Symphony,Opera in the Heights, and Utah Festival Opera, among others.


In April of 2016, Nathan returned for his fifth engagemnent with New Jersey Verismo Opera to Perform the role of Alvise Badoero in Ponchielli's classic, La Gioconda.


Also in April 2016, Nathan performed the fantastic bass role of Filippo ll in Verdi's Masterpiece, Don Carlo,fully staged with a 35 piece orchestra in New York City(Vocal Productions).


In 2015, Nathan inhabited the suave and demonic role of Don Giovanni in Mozart's masterpiece, fully staged,in 5 performances with the Amore Opera and Orchestra, in New York City.

Nathan has performed in concert in Hungary, Greece, throughout the United States, and has sung the national anthem at many sporting events. Raised in New York City by a musical family, Nathan sang, acted, and played folk and rock guitar from an early age,studied classical guitar with Julio Prol and John Williams( Cordoba , Spain), and continued his studies at both New England Conservatory and the Longy School.


A FIDE( World Chess Federation) Master of chess,Nathan is also the 2013 United States senior Chess co champion.
